Job Summary: Perform duties in correlation with general maintenance, housekeeping, grounds and all college departments. Responsible for repairs, maintenance projects and general maintenance work.
Essential Functions:
- Provide a welcoming and positive demeanor when communicating and interacting with fellow co-workers, faculty, students and any visitors to the Hanover College campus.
- Complywith all environmental, health and safety policies including but not limited to wearing/using personal protective equipment.
- Help to maintain a clean, accident-free environment in work areas on campus such as mechanical rooms of buildings and shop areas of the physical plant.
- Responsible for general and/or specialized maintenance of college buildings and property.
- Respond to all verbal and written work orders, calls, emails, etc. as assigned.
- Responsible for completing assigned work within the required time designated through the work order program.
- Responsible for reporting problems or needed repairs to the appropriate supervisor or the Director of Facilities.
- Work independently with limited supervision.
- Responsible for assigned work vehicle and reporting needed repairs to that vehicle.
- Responsible for assigned work tools and to maintain them in a good working order.
- Assist with the upkeep of other department tools used in maintaining campus buildings and equipment.
Other Responsibilities:
- Assist other departments when necessary or as assigned. (i.e., set-ups, furniture moves, snow removal, shop cleaning, gutter cleaning, etc.).
- Be available to work major events as needed and requested. (i.e., Homecoming, Graduation, student move-in days, etc.).
- Promote a positive image of Hanover College and represent the college in accordance with it's mission, principles, and strategic plan.
- Support and advocate for the college's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, goals, and mission.
- Perform / complete other projects and tasks assigned by the Associate Director of Facilties or the Director of Operations.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Vocational skills and licenses or certifications preferred
- Good working knowledge of routine maintenance tasks preferred
- Minimum two years maintenance or related work experience preferred
- Valid and current driver's license required
- Ability to operate small utility trucks and equipment preferred
- Good communication and time management skills required
- Ability to follow directions / instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner required
- Ability to meet deadlines required
- Good judgment and decision-making skills and abilities required
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- May require some evening and weekend work as assigned
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
- Occasional climbing of stairs
