The Director of Advancement Services serves as a member of the advancement team in support of the constituent engagement and fund-raising goals of the College.  The incumbent manages the constituent and fundraising database; develops and produces regular and special donor, gift, and other reports; and develops procedures to enhance the overall constituent engagement and fund-raising process, including analyzing existing data to improve the constituent engagement and fund-raising program.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of the development and bio-database.
  • Create and produce standard gift reports for the advancement office.
  • Ensure that all biographical changes are completed.
  • Develop and produce special gift reports and lists for internal staff and requests from other campus departments and external individuals and organizations.
  • Oversee a program to analyze existing data to identify trends and patterns which might improve the constituent engagement and fund-raising programs.
  • Serve as the manager of the Jenzabar development software system and Raiser's Edge/NXT to maintain data integrity and fully utilize the database capabilities to maximize the effectiveness of communications, constituent engagement, and fund raising.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training in order to remain aware of all database and platform updates.
  • Provide database and platform training to members of the Advancement team.
  • Ensures accuracy in gift accounting and follows CASE guidelines.
  • Oversee management of NetCommunity and website administration.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and effectively communicate with direct report on individual performance, including but not limited to performance assessments, goal and objective results and achievements, and personal and professional development.
  • Provide leadership through coaching and one-on-one meetings with staff encouraging professional development and growth.
  • Advocate for staff training opportunities.
  • Train staff in the department to generate standard reports used in their areas.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Manage budget and contract negotiations for software systems.
  • Supervise the processing and acknowledgment of all gifts received by the College.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Provide broad support for and participate in activities sponsored by the Office of College Advancement and the College in general.
  • Promote a positive image of Hanover College and represent the College in accordance with the College's mission, principles, and strategic plan.
  • Support and is an advocate for the College's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, goals, and mission.
  • Perform / complete other projects and tasks assigned by (supervisor).

Qualifications:

I.    Education, Certifications, Training, Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in education administration, with relational databases, or with sophisticated report writing software
  • Supervision experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and programs required
  • Experience with Jenzabar and Raiser's Edge/NXT software preferred
  • Advancement, education, library administration, or related experience a plus

  • Strong computer knowledge and skills, including Microsoft Office products and relational databases
  • Able to meet various reporting deadlines through the year

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • May require some evening and weekend work as well as occasional overnight and/or out-of-town travel for professional conferences and educational opportunities
  • May be eligible for occasional remote work
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and general office equipment
  • Occasional lifting up to 20-25 lbs. (supplies)
  • Occasional climbing of stairs
