Hanover College is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to serve as our next Vice President for Athletics. As the college prepares for its third century, we are looking for an accomplished professional to join our proven leadership team. The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with a passion for college athletics, a commitment to student-athlete development, and a vision for elevating our already successful athletic programs to new heights.  

Founded in 1827, Hanover is Indiana's oldest private, four-year college and sits on a beautiful 650-acre campus overlooking the Ohio River. More than 50 percent of students participate in one or more of our 22 NCAA Division III sports teams. We believe in fostering a holistic college experience that combines academic rigor with a robust athletic program, fostering an environment where student-athletes can strive for excellence in academics, campus engagement, and their respective fields of competition. The Panthers boast a remarkable sports legacy, with over 100 All-Americans, more than 75 NCAA appearances, and an impressive feat of winning the HCAC Commissioner's Cup three times in the last six years. Hanover College's experienced coaches and athletic staff are devoted to gender equality, promoting fair play and good sportsmanship in all competitions, and upholding the highest ethical standards both on and off the court. 

Responsibilities: 

  1. Leadership and Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive athletic program strategy aligned with the institution's mission and goals. Provide visionary leadership to coaches, staff, and student-athletes. 

  1. Administration: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the athletics program, including budget management, athletic event management, compliance with all institution, conference and NCAA regulations, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. 

  1. Student-Athlete Development: Foster an environment that promotes the academic success, personal growth, and well-being of student-athletes. Emphasize the importance of inclusivity, character, integrity, and sportsmanship. 

  1. Financial Management and Fundraising: Manage complex budgets and generate additional resources through fundraising. Collaborate with the college's advancement team to identify and pursue fundraising opportunities, sponsorships, and partnerships that support the growth and sustainability of the athletics program. 

  1. Community Engagement: Cultivate positive relationships with the local community, alumni, and other key stakeholders. Enhance the visibility and reputation of the athletics program both on and off-campus. 

Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree required 

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in administration of a college or university athletic program 

  • Strong understanding of NCAA rules and regulations. 

  • Proven leadership and management skills 

  • Substantial budgetary experience 

  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
