Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Communications and Stewardship oversees strategies
and programming aimed at increasing donor acquisition and supporting donor retention. The
Assistant Director contributes to a sustainable and robust alumni participation rate through the
management of creative and strategic advancement communications and robust, donor-centric
stewardship programming. The core functions of the Assistant Director are outlined below.
Stewardship (50%)
The Assistant Director will oversee annual stewardship events (Homecoming VIP Reception,
Donor/Scholar Lunch), dedication programs, first-time donors, Loyalty Society, Moffett
Society, and lifetime giving societies, in addition to other special stewardship needs, as
needed.
Communications (45%)
The Assistant Director will oversee mass communications, with an emphasis on social media,
e- mail, and web presence. The Assistant Director will also provide graphic design work for
smaller projects, including postcards, flyers, social media, email, and web.
Advancement Support (5%)
The Assistant Director will provide general support to advancement as needed, primarily via
attendance and support at core events, including weekends and evenings.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree is required. A minimum of three years of professional employment
experience, with experience in fundraising and/or event management strongly preferred.
Experience using Raiser's Edge strongly preferred.
Additional qualifications include excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong
writing skills, strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability and
motivation to work both independently and as part of a team towards stated and known
goals.
A valid driver's license is required as travel is anticipated. Successful candidates will be
highly organized, self-motivated, self-directed, competitive, goal-oriented, and dedicated
to the mission of a liberal arts education.
