Job Summary:
Will work as support to the Associate Director of Facilities and will be focused on developing the skills and knowledge required to assume the responsibilities of the Associate Director of Facilities. Will learn the Hanover buildings and infrastructure systems on the campus, and how to service them. Includes: in house preventive maintenance, repairs and replacement of equipment, safety systems, water and sewer systems, and outsourcing services that are required. Will assist with and learn to manage capital projects. Assist with the execution of these projects with college end-users, the long-term capital facilities plan and the annual budget.
Essential Functions:
- Plans, organizes, and supervises the maintenance and repairs performed by the maintenance systems staff. Prepares daily and weekly schedules that ensure the completion of submitted work orders for campus facilities.
- Learns to develop and oversees a preventative maintenance schedule for HVAC systems, fire/sprinkler systems, elevators, and electrical generators on campus. Learns and understands required recordkeeping required for the campus.
- Learns and understands the testing that is required for water usage on Hanover's campus. Develops relationship with Kent Water Company on water treatment and maintain Hanover's water infrastructure equipment.
- Develops an understanding of the in-ground infrastructure on Hanover's campus. This includes, water, electrical, sewage, storm drainage, natural gas, cable, and fiber systems.
- Learns to identify maintenance and safety issues on campus.
- Trains on the use of the keying system utilized to secure college facilities.
- Supervises the maintenance staff as instructed and in support of the Associate Director of Facilities in accordance with internal policies .
Other Responsibilities:
- Communicates and coordinates with Student Life and Security to ensure student safety on campus
- Responsible for special projects assigned by the Associate Director of Facilities and/or the Director of Operations.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Facilities.
Education, Skills & Knowledge Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Two-Five years related work experience preferred.
- Vocational skills preferred.
- Electrical and HVAC knowledge preferred.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently and in a group setting.
- Must have strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Is responsive and attentive to work order requests and needs.
- Ability to receive and effectively communicate direction and instructions.
- Possess a willingness and the ability to quickly learn new skills and take on new responsibilities strongly preferred.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Reliable transportation required.
