Hanover College seeks applications for a full-time, Director of Student Affairs, a 12-month non-tenured faculty appointment at the level of Associate or Professor for the developing hybrid Doctor of Physical (DPT) Program.  This accelerated two-year DPT program is a blend of online and on-campus activities that allow faculty members to live remote to Hanover College.  However, DPT faculty members must be able to travel and stay in Hanover or Southern Indiana for designated time periods each semester.  The successful candidate will have teaching experience in higher education, a developed research and scholarship agenda, a record of community service, and a spirit of innovation to explore new teaching strategies in hybrid learning. 

The Director of Student Affairs is responsible for all student affairs functions to include orientation, progression and retention, and advisement.  As Class Advisor, works to integrate remote (online learning) students into Hanover College culture and serves as the primary point of contact for student issues related to online learning life.  Oversees and recommends updates to program policies and procedures.  Serves as Chair of Administration Committee and Academic Standing and Progression Committee. 

The optimal candidate should possess an understanding of higher education and contemporary physical therapy practice; knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting didactic and clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy; and activity in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.  In addition, excellent communication and strong computer skills are required to meet the needs of our online didactic instructional format.

Individuals will possess a terminal academic doctorate in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities (Ph.D., EdD, DSc, etc.) or Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (or tDPT), with American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) or certification credentials appropriate for their teaching responsibilities.  This position is a clinical track with salary and rank commensurate with qualifications.  The candidate, if a physical therapist, must possess an active physical therapy license and be eligible for licensure in the state of Indiana.

Teaching and Education Responsibilities: Teach courses as agreed upon with the DPT Program Director.

  2. Demonstrates knowledge and skill expertise in the area of teaching;
  3. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and professionally both written and orally, both online and in-person;
  4. Demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, including students, administration, faculty, and staff;
  5. Demonstrates the ability to handle detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality;
  6. Demonstrates the ability to handle a wide range of responsibilities in the DPT Program.
