Hanover College seeks applications for a part or full-time, 12-month non-tenured faculty appointment at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Professor for the developing hybrid Doctor of Physical (DPT) Program.  This accelerated two-year DPT program is a blend of online and on-campus activities that allow faculty members to live remote to Hanover College.  However, DPT faculty members must be able to travel and stay in Hanover or Southern Indiana for designated time periods each semester.  Successful candidates will have teaching experience in higher education, developed research and scholarship agendas, records of community service, and a spirit of innovation to explore new teaching strategies in hybrid learning. 

Individuals will possess a terminal academic doctorate in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities (Ph.D., EdD, DSc, etc.) with American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Clinical Specialist or Geriatric Clinical Specialist) or advanced certification credentials in these areas or strong acute care experience.  Positions are clinical tracks with salary and rank commensurate with qualifications.  The candidates, if physical therapists, must possess an active physical therapy license and be eligible for licensure in the state of Indiana.

Optimal candidates should possess an understanding of higher education and contemporary physical therapy practice; knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting didactic and clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy; and activity in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.  In addition, excellent communication and strong computer skills are required to meet the needs of our online didactic instructional format.

Teaching and Education Responsibilities: Teach courses as agreed upon with the DPT Program Director.

Essential Tasks and Functions of the Core Faculty:

Candidates must demonstrate the following knowledge, skill, and ability or be able to explain and demonstrate that faculty members can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skill, and ability.

  1. Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the Core Values of the Physical Therapy profession;
  2. Demonstrates knowledge, skill, and expertise in the area of teaching;
  3. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and professionally both written and orally, both online and in-person;
  4. Demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, including students, administration, faculty, and staff;
  5. Demonstrates the ability to handle detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality (FERPA);
  6. Demonstrates the ability to handle a wide range of responsibilities in the DPT Program.
